DIVINE SEAS
overview
Words of the World
The world is vast and plagued by the sickness inflicted upon it by the Divine War. There are stories outside of the chosen, people who persist.
Predecessors
Of those who walked the world before, some are remembered and some are lain to rest in silence. Things were not always the way they are now, surely.
Alternate Universes
Fate's hands tangle in the many paths of the world. Things may have been destined to end the way they did, but other outcomes still breathe with life.

LORE
THE DIVINE PANTHEON
The watchful eyes of the Gods once examined from afar the land that has now been torn asunder by their own hands and divine weaponry. They have scarred the mortal realm, wounds deep and festering, that they must now attempt to nurse and heal in the aftermath of the Crowning, and before it is too late.
DENIZENS OF THE WORLD
Mortality is a fickle thing; extinction runs rampant in these desperate times. Worldly inhabitants can only do so much to prevent the erasure of their species, their culture, their history, their families. The world is cruel to those who brandish no divinity, and some names have already been lost to time.--Most, if not all, typical DnD races exist in the world of Divine Seas. Species listed below are important to the worldly lore and/or have notable flavor text and world edits
Notable races
➤ Aasimar - Unnatural and mysterious, aasimar are one the rarest species to exist on the seas. aasimar are charismatic, and have a natural and innate connection to the Astral Plane. Typically the appearance of an aasimar is seen as a blessing to a flotilla, or, for the respective Two Empires, something to hunt and kill before it can create a movement.Aasimar are born of great tragedy- a "second chance" of sorts. Those who face violent, untimely deaths are the most likely to be reborn as aasimar and posses no knowledge of who they once were. They are considered a race blessed by Fate, though in the fallout of the Crowning, a new sub-species of aasimar would be created- something horrid and a spit in the face of Fate. With the existence and research proper aasimar or "Fate Aasimar" came the creation of "Life Aasimar"- a bastardization of aasimar created by the Life Empress and a collection of mages. Life Aasimar are martyred souls, typically high-ranking soldiers, killed in brutal fashions and forced back to life with Life Divinity and Astral Leaf as a "reward" for their loyalty. Life Aasimar lack the innate connection to Fate and the greater arcana, but still hold a weakened connection to the astral plane in some form. Life Aasimar can be recognized by their lack of head wings- a feature some call a "halo."...➤ Dragonborn - The lesser but still beloved children of the World Serpent, the dragonborn were once a revered race alongside their greater dragon kin. Dragonborn were proud and heraldic, looked to like lesser gods by the more humanoid races of the mortal plane. When the World Serpent was killed and his children hunted by Life and Death alike, however, a sect of dragonborn, be it out of fear or pride, would commit the ultimate betrayal against their greater brethren- selling out the dragons and even offering services to sniff out their hiding spots in exchange for their bloodlines to be safe from the blades of the kingdoms.Dragonborn nowadays must lay in the holes dug for them by their predecessors, deemed untrustworthy and dishonorable. Some dragonborn clans still exist, either in solitude or having formed relationships with nearby settlements, but most dragonborn have taken to the seas- serving primarily as mercenaries or, if they are unlucky enough, shock troopers in the Death Army being brought back time and time again to serve when they still have fight left in them.…➤ Elves and Drow -…➤ Genasi -…➤ Kalashtar - This species actually only exists on the Astral Plane in service to Fate itself, existing largely to maintain the Realm Beyond and keep spirits exactly where they’re supposed to be, whether that be keeping the prisoners of the realm in, or keeping unwanted visitors out. Most Kalashtar take a humanoid form to act as patrons and shepherds alone, but Gods and legends speak of them as horrific revenants, the true embodiment of negative death energy, seeking to ship those who escape their assigned afterlife to a plane of torment and woe for the rest of all time.Kalashtar are experts at double-talk and silver-tongue, and rely on violent and brutal force to enforce their will when things don’t pan out....➤ Minotaur - Once a proud race, the protective brethren to the less-protected Satyrs, the minotaurs dedicated their lives to the protection of the satyrs, living in harmony and symbiosis.Docile despite their appearance and gentle despite their size, the strength and fierce loyalty of the minotaur would ultimately put a target on them by Death, who sought to wield them as weapons. Minotaurs were largely occupied and subjugated by the Death Kingdom in a series of violent conquests that went hand-in-hand with the eradication of the satyrs. The last remaining Minotaurs that survived the sieges were brought to the Death Kingdom, stripped of much of their pride, and forced into a militarized drone society. With little use for them as foot soldiers and so few remaining, minotaurs now are born in the heat of battle, and know little of a world outside of theatric violence and bloodsport. Fed potions to keep them aggressive and meat deliberately infected with a virus similar to rabies, Minotaurs are essentially glorified guard dogs and gladiators- yet another casualty to deliberate meddling in the gene pool by either empire....➤ Tieflings - Eons ago before the Crowning, a greater divine known as The Creator existed as a counterpoint to Equilibrium. The Creator gifted the world with his children- Tieflings- long before The Creator and the World Serpent could seed the Earth with life of varying design. The Creator sought to take the world for himself in his design with his children, but the World Serpent saw things differently, and consumed the Creator whole, earning his greater-divinity. However, the World Serpent saw value in the Tieflings, and allowed them to continue living. He collected their genetic material, and spliced them into various other sub-races, so as to prevent them from overtaking the world as destiny would once have had them.Tieflings exist primarily in two definable sub-races, demonic and humanoid, with the demonic, cloven-hooved tieflings becoming more common in the Death Kingdom compared to their humanoid or “lesser” brethren. However, a third sub-rce of tieflings still exists, much to the vexation of the gods of Life and Death. When the World Serpent spliced the genetics of the tieflings, he took a portion of the race for himself- imbuing a selection of tieflings with draconic aspects. The draconic tiefling wielded both the pride of the dragons and the cunning of the tiefling and held a special place in the favor of the World Serpent amongst the varying races of the tiefling and became viewed as his children, just as the dragonborn before them had.Their draconic ties proved to be their downfall as they became roped into the conquest against the dragons by the gods of Life and Death- particularly by the Life Empress due to their tiefling lineage and connection to The Creator. The draconic tieflings were killed off en masse during the crusade, some in feeble attempts to protect the dragons, the rest solely for their lineage, with few managing to escape the initial genocide to varying levels of success; some were captured directly by the kingdoms and killed, some sold out to them for handsome rewards, leaving only a small handful that managed to survive. Out of those who survived, very few successfully upheld the bloodline, many breeding out of it- both inadvertently and intentionally, their original genetics becoming so diluted that most of them never truly knew their heritage and carried no aspects from it.
The Lost Races
➤ Harengon - A former race that used to inhabit all territories, the Harengon were exterminated in a long-standing conquest by the Death God to punish an uprising against him. Their bones were ground into dust and sent to the bottom of the ocean.Because of the enormity of the extermination effort, the numbers or survivors would number in the single digits, if any remain at all. However, it’s said the harengon do persist, still, just not as they once were, and not on the mortal plane…...➤ Satyr- Solitary, small, and otherwise pacifistic, the satyrs were a widely viewed to be an unfamiliar and exotic species by those of the mainlands and the various islands that dotted the seas.Satyrs were born and raised on an undisturbed and unexplored island in the warmer waters, the seas around them protected by storms and restless waters- a blessing from the storm domain.Satyrs were scarcely seen on the main shores, and when they were, they tended to travel in groups dubbed "herds" and "flocks".Despite being viewed as exotic, diminutive and delicate, Satyrs were considered a highly intelligent race. Incredibly in tune with nature, specifically storms and weather and primed to produce heralds for the Storm God, the satyrs would ultimately be dubbed a threat by Death, and with the warnings of the Storm God going unheard or misconstrued, the satyrs would be brutally wiped out by Death's forces.Pure-blooded satyrs are widely believed to have been eradicated, with very few half-breed satyrs existing in the world. Death's raid was not without it's flaws, though, and with direct and desperate intervention from the Storm God, one satyr was able to survive the slaughter.➤ Shadar-Kai -

HARK!For let it be known that the knight upon high, the undying, the Ascendant Nacara Wolfe's name has passed upon the lips of the most highest mage within the court, and her title of Death Knight Ascendant has granted her personal knightship beneath high mage Calytrix Vor'il.However, in whispers Nacara Wolfe should have never been privy to, High Mage Vor'il swears no fealty to Death Unending, and her allegiances lie with the moon.Nacara Wolfe must now decide where her loyalties lie- and which grave she will rest in; cut down by Death Above Death for her part in a great upheaval, or a silencing at the hands of the Bastard Son and the mage of whom she currently sits beneath.

THE WORLD
The Frontier is quiet. It's an uncommon occurrence, something unprecedented, something that's never quite happened for as long as anyone can remember. But the Frontier is quiet, now, as quiet as it can be with the boys still running roughshod with their guns and their horses and their pride, with the birth of new blood amidst the old guard of the Coalition War, with the allegiances still going strong. The world spins, and the world goes on, and the world is as it should be.A collection of interlude stories taking place between the end of the main arcs and The Tower.
